EXHIBITION "GIANTS OF SCIENCE" FROM RÓMULO – CENTRO DE CIÊNCIA VIVA DA UNIVERSIDADE DE COIMBRA

SEPTEMBER 1 TO 30. OURÉM MUNICIPAL LIBRARY "Giants of Science" was organized on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of Rómulo – Centro Ciência Viva da Universidade de Coimbra. This exhibition showcases some of the great names in science, from Aristotle to Albert Einstein, through Isaac Newton and Marie Curie. "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants". The authorship of the phrase is attributed to Isaac Newton, known for his experiments in optics, the laws of motion and the Principle of Universal Gravitation. It was from here that the name of the exhibition emerged, bringing together 18 scientists known for their contributions to science. From Mathematics to Astronomy, from Physics to Chemistry, from Biology to Medicine, it is possible to better understand who the "Giants of Science" were and what they did. An exhibition that aims to disseminate the history of science, "emphasizing the fact that it is a human construction, made from careful observation of the world" (Carlos Fiolhais).
