Francisca Carvalho

Francisca Carvalho's work is based on the manipulation of symbols and signs from diverse geographies — experiences that the artist has assimilated and transformed into collages, drawings, patterns, texts, paintings and textiles. This solo exhibition shows the vertiginous and complex narratives that, like a mixture of multiple sources, compose a rich and singular vocabulary. Beyond a vast selection of works on paper, the show explores the research the artist carried out in India — in the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat — where she deepened traditional techniques of patterns, natural dyes, kalamkari and hand-block printing, as well as experiments with glass.
