About the event

Francisca Carvalho's work is based on the manipulation of symbols and signs from diverse geographies — experiences that the artist has assimilated and transformed into collages, drawings, patterns, texts, paintings and textiles. This solo exhibition shows the vertiginous and complex narratives that, like a mixture of multiple sources, compose a rich and singular vocabulary. Beyond a vast selection of works on paper, the show explores the research the artist carried out in India — in the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat — where she deepened traditional techniques of patterns, natural dyes, kalamkari and hand-block printing, as well as experiments with glass. Curated by Sara De Chiara Wednesday, 2 December at MAC/CCB Auditorium 6:00 PM – Conversation with artists Neïl Beloufa and Francisca Carvalho, and curators Marta Mestre and Sara De Chiara 7:00 PM – Opening
