About the event
On November 28 at 6:00 PM, the Cantanhede municipal library welcomes actress and director Cristina Carvalhal for a conversation about the play "O Nariz de Cleópatra, pois claro!", written by Augusto Abelaira and staged by the director herself. Part of the 5th edition of the "Gente da Nossa Terra" series, dedicated to the Cantanhede-born writer, and of the complementary program of the 27th amateur theater cycle of the municipality of Cantanhede, the initiative will shed light on the challenges and the creative process of adapting the literary work for the stage. Written during the dictatorship and the colonial war, the play combines surrealism, science fiction and social criticism, telling the story of a group of travelers from the 23rd century who return to ancient Greece to change the course of history, with unexpected consequences. Premiered in September 2025 at Teatro Variedades in Lisbon, the production is directed by Cristina Carvalhal, actress, director and artistic director of the production company Causas Comuns, with an extensive career in Portuguese theater. Location: Auditorium of the Cantanhede Municipal Library.
