About the event
a mind in the heart – TRPTK, 2026) marks Joana Gama's return to solo recording, after Arcueil (2019). This time, the motivation came from an invitation from Serbian composer Ivan Vukosavljevć. For Joana Gama, it was not difficult to be convinced, as this piece has affinities with those of composers she has performed in recent years, from Erik Satie to John Cage, also including Federico Mompou and Hans Otte. About the context of the composition, the composer states: «These eight pieces became a growing companion in a chapter of my life marked by many profound transformations. A chapter that culminated in the most significant event of my life so far — the birth of my daughter.» Drawing inspiration from the phrase that gives the cycle its title — and with some movements referencing a sermon by Meister Eckhart — Vukosavljević was also inspired by the Orthodox Christian ethos and the musical heritage that surrounds it. Pre-concert talk by Joana Gama and Ivan Vukosavljević at 7:30 PM. El Corte Inglés supports the CCB Classical Music Mediation Programme.
