The Music of Mário Pacheco

There are composers who write songs and there are composers who end up writing the memory of a country. Over several decades, Mário Pacheco built one of the most significant bodies of work in contemporary Portuguese guitar music. From his melodies were born songs and fados that found voice in the greatest performers of our music, crossing generations, stages and borders, becoming part of the affective heritage of those who listen to Portuguese music around the world. On 17 December, Centro Cultural de Belém hosts A Música de Mário Pacheco , an unrepeatable concert, where his work gains a new dimension, dressed by the strength and delicacy of the orchestra conducted by maestro João Defesa. It will also feature guests João Barradas, Ricardo Toscano and Fernando Dalcin, in a celebration that will also include the very special participation of Jaques Morelenbaum and the artistic direction of Diogo Clemente. More than a concert, it will be an encounter with music that is already part of all our lives.
