Amor Sin Pena – Language and Memory in 16th-Century Iberian Music

About the event

Third volume of the Língua project, by Noa Noa, Amor Sin Pena inaugurates a new series of dialogues between Iberian languages, proposing an intimate encounter between Portuguese and Castilian, where word and sound cross paths in a common territory of resonances, tensions and complicity. Starting from the Iberian repertoire of the 16th and 17th centuries — between the courtly tradition and popular heritage — this program traverses songbooks and other musical sources that bear witness to the circulation of forms, themes and sensibilities across the Iberian Peninsula. Voice and instruments draw a listening space where languages reflect, contaminate and mutually transform each other.
