About the event
Stacey Kent is one of the most acclaimed jazz singers of her generation. With over two million albums sold, over half a billion streams on digital platforms, a Grammy Award nomination, Platinum, Double Gold and Gold records, and performances in more than 55 countries, she has won a loyal audience worldwide thanks to her interpretative sensitivity and the uniqueness of her voice. Throughout a discography that already includes 13 studio albums — among them the Platinum and Grammy-nominated album "Breakfast on the Morning Tram" (Blue Note/EMI, 2007) — Stacey Kent has built a very distinctive artistic identity, marked by emotional depth, elegance of interpretation and an extraordinary ability to communicate through subtlety. Her multilingual repertoire spans jazz standards, French chanson, Brazilian music and original compositions, many of them written by Jim Tomlinson in collaboration with writer and Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Kazuo Ishiguro, a creative partnership that has lasted since 2006. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with some of the most prestigious international musicians, including Brazilians Marcos Valle, Roberto Menescal and Danilo Caymmi, as well as the acclaimed French string quartet Quatuor Ébène. Her studio album, Summer Me, Winter Me, released in November 2023 by Naïve Records, brings together songs frequently requested by audiences at her concerts, but which had not yet been recorded. The album debuted at number one on the French jazz chart, quickly establishing itself as another milestone in her remarkable discography. In April 2026, Stacey Kent returns with A Time For Love. Described as an album both "stripped-down and exuberant," this new work highlights the restraint and interpretative refinement that characterize the singer, enriched by Jim Tomlinson's expressive tenor saxophone and Art Hirahara's virtuoso pianism. From the welcoming atmosphere of "Lucky To Be Me" to the delicacy of "La Javanaise," through the intimacy of the title track, A Time For Love celebrates the beauty of space, subtlety and timelessness of great songs. "The whole project is simultaneously stripped-down and exuberant. Although this may seem like a contradiction, it is due to the virtuosity of pianist Art Hirahara and Jim Tomlinson, as well as Stacey's elegant and unadorned vocal approach. The opening track, 'Lucky To Be Me', works as an invitation to the album's universe, using the space between vocal phrases to draw us in. (...) The unexpected warmth of her lower register makes 'A Time For Love' the intimate ballad it was always destined to be. (...) The whole album is a pleasure to listen to, both musically and sonically.
