Fridays in the Square: Cine-Concert "The Pilgrim", by JP Cavadas and Francisco Saldanha
About the event
there are places that come alive when people meet. a square, a plaza, a public space can be much more than a place to pass through: they can be spaces of culture, of gathering, of sharing and of memory. it is with this spirit that the parish council of cantanhede launches "fridays in the square", a cultural initiative designed to bring culture closer to people and transform different spaces of our parish into true meeting points. throughout the term, we want to provide different moments, accessible and for everyone, through music, cinema, performances, dance and other cultural expressions, inviting the community to leave home, to meet and to enjoy culture in spaces that are part of our daily lives. more than a cultural programme, "fridays in the square" aims to create moments of encounter and belonging, promoting conviviality, valuing our public spaces and contributing to a more dynamic, participatory and culturally vibrant parish. we want culture to be close to people. to happen in our squares, our plazas and our places. to be an opportunity to discover, feel, learn, remember and, above all, be together. it is also a way of bringing life to the spaces of our parish and of affirming that a parish of everyone and for everyone is also a parish where culture has its place. the first initiative of "fridays in the square" takes place on september 18, with a cine-concert, to be held at largo pedro teixeira in a moment that aims to bring together the magic of cinema and the power and emotion of music, offering the audience a different and special cultural experience. it will be the first of several gatherings. because we believe that culture brings people together, that meeting strengthens and that a parish comes alive when people have reasons to be together. 18 september 9:30 pm - largo pedro teixeira, cantanhede premiere of the parish council event called "fridays in the square" film: the pilgrim year: 1923 duration: 59 minutes director: charlie chaplin synopsis: a prisoner escapes from prison, dresses as a priest to go unnoticed and flees on a train. the problems begin when he gets off at a station where, by coincidence, people are waiting for a priest… soundtrack: joão paulo cavadas and francisco saldanha Venue: Largo Pedro Teixeira.
