From Gare do Oriente to Centro Cultural de Belém — Krump Session

About the event

Krump is a performative practice structured as a ritual of liberation, acceptance, and resistance, where the body asserts itself as a space for expression and transformation. Originating in Black and Latino communities in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, krump emerged as a response to structural violence, gang conflicts, and police repression, particularly in Compton. Rooted in a socio-political context marked by racism and economic inequality, this dance style asserts itself as a raw, intense, and deeply expressive language. More than a dance, krump is configured as a collective territory where energy, emotion, and community intersect, inviting the audience into a visceral, participatory experience with a strong ritual dimension.
