Wonder Women

With Wonder Women, L’Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar propose a celebration of the creative strength, expressiveness and artistic legacy of women over the centuries. At the center of this program are striking works by 17th-century female composers such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini and Antonia Bembo. Long relegated to the background compared to their male contemporaries, these creators played a fundamental role in the affirmation of a unique musical language, marked by boldness, sensitivity and originality. Soloists Céline Scheen, Benedetta Mazzucato and Vincenzo Capezzuto perform tragic and comic narratives populated by passionate heroines, mystical saints, enchanting figures and ordinary characters confronted with the universal themes of love, destiny and devotion.
