DESCRIPTION:Luís Vicente Trio is one of the most active and relevant form
ations in contemporary Portuguese jazz\, recognized for its adventurous sp
irit\, emotional depth and constant sonic exploration. Led by trumpeter an
d composer Luís Vicente\, the trio features Gonçalo Almeida on double ba
ss and Pedro Melo Alves on drums\, two of the most creative and versatile
musicians on the Portuguese scene. Together\, they build an intense musica
l dialogue that moves freely between structure and freedom\, lyricism and
abstraction. After earning recognition through their live performances and
recordings\, which explore the boundaries between free jazz\, contemporar
y improvisation and lyrical expression\, the trio now begins a new chapter
\, expanding into a quintet with two internationally renowned artists: pia
nist Leo Genovese and American saxophonist Tony Malaby. This collaboration
brings together five distinct voices\, united by the same openness and wi
llingness to take risks. Genovese's boundless imagination and rhythmic vit
ality\, combined with Malaby's rich timbre and expressiveness\, add new la
yers of intensity and color to the trio's sonic universe. The result is an
electrifying encounter\, a dialogue without borders where Lisbon's vibran
t creative energy meets the spirit of the New York jazz avant-garde. Spont
aneous and deeply connected music\, abstract and at the same time emotiona
 l — a living expression of jazz's constant evolution.
