DESCRIPTION:Being a pauliteiro is a source of pride in Miranda do Douro. T
 raditionally linked to the chosen groups of each village\, the pauliteiros
  found new forms of continuity and sharing at school. Today\, the sticks e
 cho in the hallways\, in the playgrounds and in improvised rehearsals\, wh
 ere young people learn from each other\, repeat steps and share "lhaços" 
 like sharing a living language. With the reinforcement of the work develop
 ed by the National Plan for the Arts\, new spaces for learning and partici
 pation were opened\, giving greater expression to female and mixed groups 
 and bringing more young people closer to the Mirandese culture. In this pe
 rformance\, dance\, music and the Mirandese language meet in a single gest
 ure. On stage\, pauliteiros and musicians — all students — celebrate a
  living tradition\, carried into the present with pride\, energy and a sen
 se of community.
